SPECIAL PROCEDURES

Kitten < 12 mos

  • Full physical exam every 6 months
  • FeLV/FIV test at first visit
  • Fecal or deworming
  • FVRCP at 8, 12, 16 weeks
  • Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks
  • FeLV vaccine at 12 and 16 for all kittens
  • Start heartworm prevention
  • Start flea/tick control
  • OHE/Neuter
  • Pre-anesthetic blood work and urinalysis
  • Heartworm test at 12 weeks or older

Adult - 1 to 7 years

  • Full physical exam every six months
  • Formulate appropriate vaccine schedule for life style
  • Discuss dental care
  • Rabies yearly
  • FVRCP every 3 years, yearly if outdoors
  • FeLV vaccine yearly up to three years old, yearly if outdoors
  • FeLV/FIV test yearly if outdoors
  • Fecal or deworming every 6 months
  • Heartworm, flea/tick prevention
  • Full screening lab work at least every 3 years - CBC, Chemistry, electrolytes, urinalysis
  • Optional vaccine titer instead of FVRCP
  • Dental cleaning as needed
  • Heartworm test yearly

Mature Adult - 7 years to 11 years

  • Full physical exam every 6 months
  • Monitor for weight changes
  • Discuss age related diet changes
  • Modify vaccine schedule appropriate for age and lifestyle
  • Discuss dental care
  • Rabies yearly
  • FVRCP every 3 years, yearly if outdoors
  • FeLV vaccine yearly if outdoors
  • FeLV/FIV test yearly if outdoors
  • Fecal +/- deworming every 6 months
  • Heartworm, flea/tick prevention
  • Full lab work yearly (CBC, chemistry, electrolytes, thyroid, urinalysis)
  • Blood pressure measurement yearly
  • Optional vaccine titer instead of FVRCP
  • Screening thoracic and abdominal radiographs every 3 years
  • Dental cleaning as needed
  • Heartworm test yearly

Golden years >11 years

  • Full physical exam every 6 months
  • Monitor for weight changes

  • Discuss any changes in behavior, appetite, water intake
  • Discuss appropriate vaccine schedule
  • Discuss ongoing health problems
  • FVRCP every 3 years, yearly if outdoors
